FUDECOTIVITY: Ardo Kaku, From Under The Tree To Community School

In tune with its mission to provide shelter to the displaced pastoralists and give quality education to their children forecasting the future, the Fulbe Department and Cultural Organisation, FUDECO Adamawa State Chapter has completed the building of Ardo Kaku Community School in Fufore LGA inluding a water well, reservoir and toilet, from personal donations.
The school, which started under a tree on a piece of land being donated by HRH the Lamido Adamawa at Mayo-Ine are, was established by FUDECO as part of its Pastoralist Girls Education Project.
Initially 30 girls from the IDP communities in the state were sponsored. Now the school has almost 200 children.
FUDECO got support from local education authorities in form of a head teacher and learning materials from Nomadic Education Commission Kaduna.
In a press release Tuesday, issued by the FUDECO media, communications and public relations office, “In 2017, Ardo Kaku community were attacked by farmer-militiass in Numan where 70 members of their settlement were killed, mostly women and children while the men were away in the market.
“The settlement they were occupying for decades were burnt down with some livestock rustled; the pastoralist were eventually forced out of the settlement and resettled in the Fufore local government area to rebuild their lives.
“We commend Jibo Alhaji Manu, Adamawa State Chapter Secretary for the selfless sacrifice, effective and efficient fund management and proper supervision of the school’s building from start to finish”.
