Gombe State Governor Commissions Go-Health Offices In LGAs

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has commissioned the Gombe State Health Contributory Scheme, Go-Health in Local Government Area offices in the state.

Speaking at the flag-up ceremony Deba, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area, Governor Yahaya said the expansion of the office to all the LGAs was to consolidate on the gains of the Go-Health programme and make healthcare accessible to all in the state.

The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, said the move was also aimed at attaining universal healthcare coverage for the people of Gombe State by 2030.

He said his administration was committed to ensuring that quality healthcare service delivery was taken to the doorstep of everybody in the state.

According to him, “The launch of the local government area offices is to strengthen the Go-Health programme, which was established in 2021, to give residents easy access to quality health service without any bottleneck.

“To ensure provision of access to quality health care service, the government has paid the counter-part fund and there is the payment of 3.5% salary contribution and the development and deployment of robust ICT platform. In fact there are 140,000 person in the scheme who have been accessing it’s service at a reduced cost,” Governor Yahaya said.

He said workers in the local government areas, especially those interested from the informal sector, had been provided the opportunity and access to the scheme, where modalities for the enrolment had been provided.

“The establishment of the Local Government Area offices is a great testimony of government’s determination to take the scheme closer and nearer to the population. While I appeal to the people to take advantage of this, I also call on those charged with delivery of service to be transparent and dedicated to avoid the situation of frustration, dissatisfaction and eventually an abandonment of these facilities,” Governor Yahaya added.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, said Governor Yahaya’s administration had resuscitated the health sector by establishing the Go-Health programme and for subsidising the services to make it accessible by the people.

Dr. Dahiru said under the Go-Health programme, the government had provided motor-circles to ease transport problems and encouraged the families who were yet to register to do so.

He commended Governor Yahaya and the contributions of partner agencies for their commitment to the welfare of the people and for the success of government programmes.

The Chairman of the Governing Board of Go-Health Gombe State, Dr. Mohammed Isa Umar, reiterated the commitment of the government to ensure that activities of Go-Health reached the grassroots, to enable beneficiaries have access to the services.

He also gave the assurances that most families would be enrolled, while urging district heads to mobilise their subjects to assist them have access to the opportunity provided by the government.

Also, the Executive Secretary of the Gombe Contributory Health Scheme, Go-health, Dr. Abubakar Musa, explained that the Go-Health programme was doing well by registering more than 1, 000 poor and vulnerable people in the state within its mandate.

Dr. Musa said the launch of the Call Centres in the local government areas was to be more responsive to the health needs of the people, saying they have been well equipped for easy digital capturing of beneficiaries.

The Emir of Deba, Alhajji Ahmed Usman, appreciated the efforts of the state government to ensure that all households in the state had access to health care services.
