Gov Aliyu Sokoto vows to run LG system constitutionally , charges appointees on prudence with discipline

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has said that his administration will remain resolute at ensuring that local government system works in the state as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.
According to the governor, ” we will respect and ensure the system works in line with the constitutional provisions and cardinal principles of discipline , dedication and commitment to service as driver for good governance.”
The Sokoto state governor stated on Friday while administering the oath of office on the 23 newly appointed local government Sole Administrators of the state
The governor also charged them to be punctual, prudent and security conscious while discharging their duties.
The governor also tasked the appointees not to fail to regularly report to the state government the outcomes of their routine security meetings inorder to assist in improving security architecture of the state.
According to the governor ” you must be responsive in discharging your duties and shun truancy by focussing attention to security issues as you should also demonstrate high sense of punctuality and ensure prudent management of the scarce resources available for the peace, progress and benefit of the people and prosperity of the state.”
Aliyu Sokoto further remarked that all the appointees must be mindful that they were the Chief Security officers of their respective local government areas and were bound to remain sensitive and prompt on alert against possible security breach and ensure optimal welfare of their people.
” We will remain resolute and ensure that local government system in the state work as enshrine in the Nigerian constitution,” we will ensure harmonious working relationship between state and local government councils ” The Governor added.
However, the governor acknowledged the unalloyed support and cooperation of traditional and religious leaders to his administration as it marked 100 days of inception.
