Gov Buni approves promotion for 1,700 Yobe teachers

By Hussaini Ibrahim

DAMATURU, NIGERIA — Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the promotion of 1,700 teachers across Yobe State, in a move aimed at rewarding dedication and strengthening the education sector.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego.

According to Bego, the promotion is part of the state government’s broader strategy to incentivise teaching as a critical public service while boosting morale among educators.

He explained that the decision reflects the administration’s sustained commitment to improving teachers’ welfare and enhancing the quality of education in the state.

“The government recognises the vital role teachers play in shaping the future of society,” Bego said, adding that additional policies would be introduced to further support the sector.

The promotion is expected to positively impact the state’s education workforce, amid ongoing efforts to improve learning outcomes and restore confidence in public education.
