Gov. Buni Charge Traditional Rulers on Youth Morality
By Usman Bello, Damaturu
Yobe state Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON has charged traditional, religious leaders and parents on youth upbringing with descent morality.
He gave the charge today when the new Emir of Tikau, Alh. Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema led a delegation of Tikau Emirate title holders on a thank you visit to the governor.
Gov. Buni reiterated the collective responsibility to rebuild the eroding culture of discipline, descency, and righteousness in the youth for a better future.
“The government, traditional authorities, and parents all have the responsibility to arrest the growing decay in morality, discipline, and drug abuse.
“The state government would support 20 young farmers from each of the 178 political wards with farm inputs this cropping season.
“This is to provide employment to our youth and to boost food sufficiency and food security in the state,” he said.
The governor urged the new Emir to be just and fair to all and a good ambassador of peace, unity, and development.
“Your father, the late Emir, was an advocate of peace and unity. You should strive to surpass his achievements to justify your selection as the emir,” he advised.
The new Emir Alh. Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema appreciated the governor and government of Yobe state for standing with the family and the Emirate during the trying moment of the passage of the late emir.
“We are grateful for the show of love and for your gracious approval of me as the new emir,” Abubakar said.
He assured the support, cooperation, and loyalty of the emirate to Governor Buni and his government and pleaded for the rehabilitation of the Sabon Garin Nangere hospital.
“I also intend to continue with the tradition of peace building, Zakkat and tree planting left by my father for the benefit of community and the people,” the Emir assured.
