GOV. BUNI COMMENDS UNITED NATIONS WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME

His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe state, Hon Mai Mala Buni CON (Chiroman Gujba) has commended the united Nations World food programme ( WFP) in Yobe state.
The Governor gave the commendation on Wednesday when he recieved the Country Director Mr. David Stevenson on a courtesy call call at the Government House Damaturu.
The Governor was represented by his Deputy His Excellency Hon Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune) who said that Yobe state government cherishes the contributions of the world food programme on its support for the distribution of food to 320,365 beneficiaries in Gujba, Gulani and Nangere local government Areas through in-kind food modalities as well as support to 398,222 beneficiaries through e- voucher modalities across Yusufari,Gujba, Gulani Gaidam, Yunusari and Jakusko Local Government areas respectively.
The Governor noted that Yobe state government has already identified agriculture as the mainstay of the economy and demonstrated it’s commitment to turn the economy the economy of the state around in the current post- insurgency era by holding a summit on agriculture which it’s far reaching recommends were later adopted by the government.
On this note the Governor appealed to the Country Director to extend the present tempo of 100 percent of their activities to December,2024 as against October 2023 to further collaborate with them on all facets of development to make the wellbeing of the people of the state better.
Earlier the United Nations World food programme Mr David Stevenson said they were in the state for an official visit to conduct a field visit to the ongoing WFP food distribution in Fune local government area.
Mr David said this visit present an opportunity to discuss and explore food system support indicatives that will enhance self reliance and resilience of the people.
He assured to support the state government in the area of agriculture to free people from the clutches of hunger and unemployment.
