Gov Buni Constructs 225km of Urban, Rural Roads Across Yobe – Engr. Wakil

The Yobe State Government has constructed 225 kilometers of county roads under the first phase of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s infrastructural development program.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umaru Wakil Duddaye, during a review meeting at his office in Damaturu, the state capital.

Engr. Wakili highlighted that Governor Buni’s administration has invested heavily in constructing new county and semi-urban roads, as well as drainage systems in Damaturu and major towns, including Potiskum, Nguru, Gashua, Geidam, and Buni Yadi.

“These projects aim to facilitate the smooth movement of goods and services from rural areas to urban centers while also curbing rural-to-urban migration and reducing congestion in cities,” he stated.

He further emphasized that improved road networks would open up both rural and urban communities, attract foreign investments, and accelerate the state’s economic growth.

The commissioner revealed that the Buni administration has completed 80 kilometers of township roads and 160 kilometers of drainage systems in key towns.

“Additionally, 196 kilometers of roads across the state have been rehabilitated.

“Furthermore, the government has undertaken the construction of 22 kilometers of semi-urban roads and 44 kilometers of drainage systems across the 17 local government areas of the state,” he added.

Commending Governor Buni’s efforts, Engr. Wakili described the projects as capital-intensive but crucial for transforming the state.

He lauded the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development, noting that these initiatives would leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
