Gov Buni Is our senior in politics, says VP Shettima
By Hussaini Ibrahim
YOLA, NIGERIA — Vice President Kashim Shettima has described Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, as “our senior in politics,” praising his experience and influence within the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Shettima made the remark on Monday during a grand reception held in Yola to welcome Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri into the APC, an event that drew top political figures from across the country.
“Governor Buni is our senior in politics,” the Vice President said, noting that the Yobe governor’s leadership qualities and political maturity continue to contribute to party unity and national development efforts.
The commendation underscores Buni’s standing within the APC as a key figure known for fostering reconciliation and strengthening internal cohesion, particularly during critical moments in the party’s evolution.
Buni’s role in national politics has been marked by strategic engagement and consensus-building, earning him recognition among party stakeholders as a dependable leader with a unifying approach.
The event also attracted notable leaders, including the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf; Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya; Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin; and the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi.
Political observers say the gathering reflects ongoing efforts by the APC to consolidate unity and strengthen its structure ahead of future political engagements.
In his remarks, Buni expressed appreciation for the recognition, reaffirming his commitment to promoting unity within the party and supporting initiatives aimed at national development.
He emphasised that collective leadership and cooperation among stakeholders remain essential for sustaining progress and delivering good governance to Nigerians.
