Gov. Buni Recieves World Bank, MCRP Officials

His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe state, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, today granted audience to officials of the World Bank and the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project.
The Governor and the officials discussed on measures to improve synergy and scale up services to improve the lives of the people affected by the insurgency.
Governor Buni expressed the need to enhance agricultural production to ensure food suffiency and security.
He said there is the urgent need to effectively enhance agriculture productivity for food security and economic development.
The Governor charged the international bodies to check the bureaucratic bottlenecks in their organizations retarding speedy support to communities faced with humanitarian disaster.
“The delay involved slows down the speed of reaching out to provide support to the affected communities, this should be considered to achieve maximum results” he said.
“Our youth are ready to go into commercial agriculture to not only meet our food needs but to export it out of the state for economic growth.
“We are targeting food crops and Sesame seeds production, and government is determined to provide the required input to make agriculture in Yobe state attractive, productive and profitable” Governor Buni emphasised.
Earlier, the team led by Taimur Samad, Operations Manager and Acting Country Director, said the World Bank is willing to support Yobe state government to actualize its reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery process to improve the lives of the people.
Similarly, the MCRP Task Team led by Fuad Malkawi, assured the governor of continued support in resettlement of displaced persons, and future plans on Urban development in the state.
