Gov. Buni to Establish YORARA, YSRF, YGGW, and YSUPDA — Consolidating Yobe’s Service Delivery Framework

By Yusuf Ali

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, is set to establish four new strategic agencies — the Yobe Rural Access Roads Authority (YORARA), Yobe State Road Fund (YSRF), Yobe Great Green Wall (YGGW), and the Yobe State Urban Planning and Development Agency (YSUPDA) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance service delivery across the state.

These new agencies, when operational, will play pivotal roles in advancing rural infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and modern urban development — key pillars of the Governor’s transformational vision for a resilient and prosperous Yobe.

The Yobe Rural Access Roads Authority (YORARA) and the Yobe State Road Fund (YSRF) will work hand in hand to ensure the efficient construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of rural and feeder roads, thereby improving connectivity, accessibility, and economic opportunities in rural communities.

The Yobe Great Green Wall (YGGW) is designed to complement national and international efforts in combating desertification and promoting environmental conservation through large-scale afforestation, soil restoration, and livelihood support programs.

Similarly, the Yobe State Urban Planning and Development Agency (YSUPDA) will guide and regulate physical development in urban areas, ensuring orderly growth, aesthetic enhancement, and compliance with modern planning standards.

It is worth emphasizing that Governor Mai Mala Buni has, within just six years in office, established no fewer than 18 new ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) — a remarkable feat that reflects his commitment to institutional reform, good governance, and sustainable development.

These bold initiatives underscore Governor Buni’s enduring legacy of innovation, structure-building, and people-centered governance — a legacy that continues to shape the future of Yobe State.
