Gov. Inuwa Swears-in New Security Adviser, Inaugurates Boards of Tertiary Institutions, Agencies, Commissions

…Charges New Appointees to Uphold Principles of Transparency, Accountability

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has on Thursday, sworn-in a new Special Adviser on Security Matters and inaugurated the Chairmen and members of boards of state-owned tertiary institutions, agencies and commissions.

Speaking after administering oaths of office to the Special Adviser, Abubakar Aminu Musa, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized the critical role of security in engendering development, stating that his administration remains committed to ensuring safety and protecting lives and property of the citizens.

“The security of our people remains our topmost priority. As we consolidate on the gains made so far, we expect you to work closely with security outfits and other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and conducive environment for economic growth and social stability”, the governor said.

In a related development, Governor Inuwa Yahaya also inaugurated the newly constituted boards of various tertiary institutions, agencies, and commissions in the state, charging them to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in discharging their responsibilities.

“We are determined to reposition our institutions and agencies for better service delivery. Your appointment is a call to duty, and I expect you to justify the confidence reposed in you. I charge you to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in discharging your responsibilities”, the Governor stated.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated board members, Haj. Aishatu Jibir Dukku, the new Chairperson of the Board of College of Education and Legal Studies, Nafada, expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve, and pledged their commitment to adding greater value to these institutions.

“Your Excellency, we assure you that we shall do our best to ensure greater achievements of these institutions, commissions and boards. We will ensure we move them to greater heights for the benefit of our people in Gombe state. We consider this assignment as a national service which requires dedication and sacrifices as well as strict adherence to all the laws governing the administration of these institutions, and we pledge to act rightly in the discharge of our roles”, she remarked.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, informed the board members and the new security adviser, that their selection by Governor Inuwa Yahaya for these assignments was based on merit and commitment to serving Gombe state, urging them to prove the confidence reposed in them by contributing towards shaping a prosperous future for the state in line with the Governor’s progressive agenda.

The boards inaugurated include those of Gombe State University, College of Education and Legal Studies Nafada, College of Education Billiri, Gombe State Polytechnic Bajoga, Gombe State College of Health Sciences and Technology Kaltungo, Local Government Service Commission, Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Senior Secondary School Education Board, Gombe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency and Gombe State Revenue Optimization Company Limited (Grocol).

Others are: Gombe United Football Club Management, Gombe State Disability Commission, Gombe State Housing Corporation, Bubayero Micro Finance Bank, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board, Gombe State Teachers’ Service Commission, Gombe Media Corporation, Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Hospitals Management Board, Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (Go-Health) and Gombe State Internal Revenue Service.
