Governor Fintiri creates 7 new chiefdoms and Emirates in Adamawa.

Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has announced the establishment of seven (7) new chiefdoms and Emirates in the state.

In a statewide broadcast on Monday at the conference hall Government house Yola, Governor Fintiri stated that, the  creation of the new chiefdoms and emirates is aimed at repositioning the traditional institution and enhancing its role in promoting peace, security, and development in the state.

Fintiri assured that his administration will continue to respond positively to genuine demands and agitations from other citizens stressing that, the move is also expected to provide more centers for dispute resolution, improve governance in ungoverned spaces, and strengthen social cohesion.

According to him, the new chiefdoms and emirates includes ;the Hoba Chiefdom with headquarters in Hong, with a Second-Class status, Madagali Chiefdom with H/quatrs in Gulak, with a Second-Class status, Michika Chiefdom with headquarters in Michika, with a Second-Class status, Fufore Emirate with headquarters in Fufore, with a Second-Class status, Gombi Chiefdom with headquarters in Gombi, with a Third-Class status, Yungur Chiefdom with headquarters in Dumne, with a Third-Class status, and Maiha Emirate with headquarters in Maiha, with a Third-Class status.

While congratulating the new Emirates and Chiefdoms, Governor Fintiri acknowledged demands and agitations from other citizens whose haven’t been considered now assuring them of his administration’s zeal to addressing them.He also highlighted the achievements of his administration in 2024, especially in infrastructure development, social sector investments, and security improvements describing it as “Season of harvest” for the state.

Governor noted that the creation of the new chiefdoms and emirates has already been gazetted and now part of the state’s statutory repository said to be looking forward for more prosperous 2025 ahead.

Our Correspondent reports that the creation of these additional chiefdoms and Emirates have received mixed reactions from people in the state as welcome the development while others viewed it as unnecessary burden considering the reality of life .
