By Hussaini Ibrahim Sulaiman, Kano
Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has tasked the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the state to see it as their ancestral home for better serving the country as expected them to do.
The governor stated this in an address to members of the newly inaugurated unit of the corps members, Batch B stream one, at Kusalla village, a town in Karaye Local Government Area of the state.
Gov. Yusuf, represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, revealed that the NNPP-led regime in the state under his leadership will continue to foster better working conditions for the corps members and provide an adequate security atmosphere throughout the period of their service in the state.
He said: “The more, the merrier, maybe a useful adage in the general affairs of society but in the specific and narrow world of education.
“I congratulated you for the successful completion of your degree program by passing all your exams -it’s indeed a remarkable achievement.
” I assure you that this government will work tirelessly to ensure the success of your program.
He disclosed that the government has various schemes for youth and education which are the primary goals of the current administration.
He stressed that the corps members have a vital role to play in accomplishing its objectives.
Also speaking, the State NYSC Coordinator, Malam Sulaiman Andy Ibrahim, announced the commencement of the orientation program, where the corps members will receive training in leadership, entrepreneurship, and paramilitary skills.
According to him, over 1,900 members were officially sworn in for their mandatory one-year service.
Malam Andy emphasized the dedication exhibited by the corps members in responding to the regimental camp activities and expressed confidence in their ability to have a successful service year.
