Governor Zulum’s Commitment to Education – Rebuilding Schools and Creating Opportunities in Borno
By Madu Mohammed, Maiduguri
Borno Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has initiated a significant effort to revitalize the educational infrastructure in the state, with a specific focus on the reconstruction and rebuilding of schools in Manguno local Government Area in the Northern part of the State.
Of particular significance is the plan to reconstruct the Government Science Secondary School Manguno, which has long been a key educational institution in the state. Previously, the school premises had been utilized as a camping ground for internally displaced persons for over a decade, severely impacting the educational activities. As part of the plan, these newly constructed housing units will be allocated to the internally displaced persons, clearing the way for the school to fully resume educational activities.
The Government Science Secondary School Manguno holds a special place in the educational landscape of the state, having played a crucial role in the development of numerous leaders, including Governor Babagana Umara Zulum himself.
During a visit to address the internally displaced persons residing in the school, Governor Zulum underscored the government’s commitment to facilitating the resettlement of the displaced individuals. He assured them of ongoing government support to enable them to return and settle back into their ancestral homes, signaling a positive step towards restoring stability and normalcy to the region.
On the inspection visit, Governor Zulum emphasized the government’s willingness to construct additional schools beyond the Government Science Secondary School Manguno, with the aim of providing a conducive learning environment for academic activities across the region.
