Great Damage the AREWA24 Foreign Media doing to AREWA
By Brig Gen Kapeh Alwali Kazir (Rtd)
I am hoping that we are conscious of the grave damage the Jaruma Arewa Television and Arewa 24 media channels are doing to Arewa and our collective purpose.
They are a part of the grand plot to undermine our values and further divide the North with intent to destroy us. Unfortunately, these subversive activities are being facilitated by Northeners who are either unconscious, gullible, or just outrightly stupid, which is rather most unfortunate. Any effort or narrative that seeks to divide rather than unite us must be immediately countered. Unfortunately, we have people who are easily deceived, convinced, or recruited to execute that agenda willingly.
We are all witnesses to how we allowed ourselves to be divided along religious and ethnic lines, which have become an albatross to our collective peace and development. This serves the purpose of those who believe that a cohesive North is against their political interests. That has worked to some extent. But we can’t allow what happened in that line to go deeper because we have learnt the lessons. So, the likes of Jaruma TV and Arewa 24 must be strategically and aggressively countered, and their messages eliminated. Their sponsors, drivers, and facilitators must also be identified and neutralised.
In the classic definition of ethnicity, I might not be Hausa or Fulani, but a *”Bade, from Gashua. But in the Nigerian context today, the Hausa-Fulani term represents an amalgam of cultures to which I and all other Northerners belong. It is a “tribe”* that goes beyond the ethnic Hausa and Fulani in their purest forms. So, any injury to Hausa-Fulani, like ‘mallam’ or ‘aboki’ is an injury to the concept of Arewa or Northern Nigeria, and its people which should be resisted by all conscious Northerners, whether Muslims, Christians, or any other religious belief or spiritual inclination.
As part of our mission in LND, we must resist anything that seeks to create anarchy and discontent amongst us. We have seen that template played out in Libya, Iraq, Syria, and others. So, it will be Fool Hardy to let ourselves, our children, our people, and our country go through that torture if we can.
We know their desired ends-state, so we must do all we can to resist it! Our unity is our strength. We are all HAUSA-FULANI!
