Imo urban renewal targets infrastructure, economic growth — Uzodimma
By Hussaini Ibrahim
OWERRI, NIGERIA — Governor Hope Uzodimma says his administration’s urban renewal initiative goes beyond aesthetics and beautification to deliver comprehensive modernization across Owerri and other major cities in Imo State.
In a statement, the governor said the project directly addresses infrastructural deficits, stimulates economic activity and promotes a healthier lifestyle for residents.
“Our urban renewal project goes beyond aesthetics and beautification to deliver comprehensive modernization in Owerri and other major cities in Imo State,” he said. “It directly addresses infrastructural deficits, stimulates economic activity, and promotes a healthier lifestyle for our people.”
Uzodimma noted that his administration has sustained the turnaround of public infrastructure in Owerri, easing business operations and improving daily life for residents.
According to him, road reconstructions are progressing in phases, with New Owerri’s road network undergoing significant transformation. He added that the designs being implemented are structured to improve traffic flow, control erosion and provide adequate street lighting.
“Beyond rebuilding, we are implementing designs that improve traffic flow, control erosion, and provide adequate street lighting,” the governor stated.
He further said the upgrades are strengthening the city’s hospitality sector and creating opportunities for new investments.
“We remain focused and deliberate, transforming our state quietly and consistently, community by community, city by city, and zone by zone, in the best interest of our people,” Uzodimma added.
