Importance Of Women In Peace Building, That’s Why We Organized Three Days Workshop For Them -Lao’ri

The member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde local governments area at the National Assembly Rt Honorable Kwamoti La’ori, organized a three-day workshop for 150 women from the three local governments through Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) ended on Wednesday 31/7/2024.

Speaking at the closing of the workshop, La’ori, said the workshop has come at the right time, because now is the time when Nigerians need a balanced understanding of peace building and stability in the country.

He continued that “because of the importance of women, we started with your training, we have learned many things that will help us and help our family and neighbors to live in good peace in this area, our state and the country as a whole.

“You call yourself Kwamoti Peace Ambassadors, then do what you need to do in Nigeria, the women of my constituents are the first, women should emulate the women of my constituents.

“I am doing the right thing and I will continue to do the right thing. Everything I have seen or heard that will help the community, especially women, I will bring to you,” said La’ori.

Speaking on the issue of protest, Honorable La’ori said that although the law allows everyone to hold a protest, but considering what happened during Palliative, people should not participate in this protest.

“Let’s remember what happened a few months ago during the Palliative protest, there is a bad intention in some people mind that they are waiting for it to start, because the will do bad things, they will destroy your shops and kill lives, and no one will help you.

“The protestors are calling President Bola Tinubu and he is in Abuja, our governor is trying to help us, he has done what he needs to do for us, let’s go to Abuja and do it” said La’ori.

Speaking at the event the Commissioner Ministry of Information and Strategy Hon James Illiya, praised the commitment and efforts of Hon. Laori for the people of the area he said “this is a good idea, we thank you and we will keep thanking you, we can’t give you what you are, but we have to thank you.

“If women build peace and build a community, we cannot list the things you have given us, you have given farmers fertilizers and for women you have given them training and money to do business, We should not keep our mouths shut. let’s explain the activities that the member is doing, we will continue to support you” said Illiya.

Speaking from the beginning, the officer who represented the Director General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) Barrister Paul Gwoza, explained that the organized event by Hon La’ori was commendable and worthy of thanks, he added that “on behalf of the DG, we thank you for taking the responsibility of organizing this event, in the three days we spent we understood many things.

“We have achieved success and we have honour some old women, we are sure that they have received the training that if they go back to where they came from, and a problem arises, they will be able to solve it. If there are people like you Sir, people will not go to protest,” said Paul.

The beneficiaries in their separate remarks after wishing the Hon. Member all the best in life also applauded him for giving them such a great opportunity and assured that all they learned will be taken down to the Thirty (30) Wards and also to the unit levels.

Dignitaries at the event included Commissioner Ministry of Information and Strategy James Iliya, Chairmen of Demsa, Numan and Lamurde LGAs, Member Representing Numan Constituency Rt. Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo, Member Representing Lamurde Constituency Hon. Bauna Myandasa.

Others are former member House of Representatives Talatu Yohannah, former member Representing Lamurde Constituency Hon. Mike Zidon, Representative of the Hama Bachama, Dr P P Power, Senior Special Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Food Security Dr Dishi Khobe Mitikishe among others.
