Jigawa:Gunmen Kidnap Kiyawa LG Chairman’s Wives
By Ibrahim Hussaini Dutse
Unknown gunmen thought to be kidnappers stormed the Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State and kidnapped two wives of the LG chairman.
The LG Chairman, Nasiru Ahmed Kiyawa, told BBC Hausa Service that the gunmen stormed his house after Isha’i prayer on Friday night, chasing away people outside before whisking them away to an unknown destination.
“They fired twice at my door before entering,” the chairman said. “From there, they took my two wives, they are still holding them hostage,” he said.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam Shiisu confirmed the incident, saying they received an emergency call and immediately sent officers to the scene of the crime.
He, however, said that “Before the arrival of the police officers, the gunmen had already kidnapped the chairman’s wives and fled”.
Shiisu said the command had already dispatched officers to all the nooks and crannies of the area to rescue the victims.
He also appealed to members of the public to assist the police with any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the hoodlums.
