Kaduna Police Arrest 12 Over Killing of Teenager in Mosque
By Musa A Musa
The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested 12 individuals suspected of attacking a mosque in Kaduna, northern Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansur Hassan, the attack led to the death of a 23-year-old man, Usman Mohammed.
BBC reports that DSP Mansur stated that the police received intelligence from a resident of the Rigasa area, who alerted them that a group of armed thugs was planning to attack worshippers performing the late-night Tahajjud prayer.
“Upon receiving the report, our operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene. However, before they could arrive, the assailants had already stabbed a young man identified as Usman Mohammed. A medical doctor later confirmed his death at the hospital,” the police spokesperson said.
He added that the police officers, accompanied by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), managed to apprehend 12 suspects linked to the attack. A full investigation has been launched into the incident.
