Renowned Kano-based industrialist and Islamic scholar, Alhaji Nasiru Ahali, has passed away at the age of 108. He died on Thursday night at a hospital in Kano.
Ahali was a pioneer in Kano’s industrial sector and played a crucial role in establishing and expanding the state’s economic landscape.
Through his company, Mainasara and Sons, he contributed significantly to the development of both large- and small-scale businesses, fostering industrial growth in the state. His influence helped shape Kano into a commercial hub, earning him widespread recognition as a business icon.
Beyond his contributions to industry, Ahali was deeply respected for his Islamic knowledge and philanthropic efforts.
He devoted his life and resources to religious teachings, humanitarian causes, and uplifting the less privileged in society. His legacy as a devout Muslim and community leader remains an inspiration to many.
Following his passing, tributes have poured in from various quarters. Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, described his death as a great loss not only to his family but also to the state, the nation, and the entire Muslim ummah.
The governor acknowledged Ahali’s instrumental role in Kano’s economic development and extended heartfelt condolences to his family, praying for Allah’s mercy upon him.
Similarly, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, mourned Ahali’s passing, describing him as a patriotic citizen whose contributions to industrialization in Kano cannot be overstated. In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau emphasized Ahali’s impact on the business sector and urged his family to take solace in the fact that he lived a life of service to Allah and humanity.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of our late business icon. May Allah SWT grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give all those he left behind the strength to bear this loss,” he said.
