…tasks them to remain apolitical

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged support to the members of the vigilante groups by initiating retraining workshops and providing adequate vehicles to improve the prevailing peace and security in the state.

He dropped the hint in an address to the state Commander of the Group and stakeholders from the Kano Vigilante Groups at the Government House, recently.

Gov. Yusuf, represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, emphasized the importance of the vigilante groups in society adding that the state government would cooperate with their regulatory bodies to devise more ingenious approaches to tackling phone anatching in the state.

He said: “I respect anybody I see in this uniform. Police alone can’t handle the security affairs of this state. There’s a need for additional groups like you to intermingle together in ensuring peace and order in Kano.

” You’re indigenous of the state who knows every single hideout of unscrupulous elements in city and suburb areas of the state. Therefore, you’re highly integrated parts of increasing the well-being of the Kano citizens,” he noted.

He further charged them to remain apolitical when discharging their duties to remain as true security personnel.

He assured the present administration’s determination to improve their socio-economic well-being and development. and give maximum cooperation to support their activities to spare no effort in making Kano the safest state in the country where meaningful business and social activities would thrive unfettered.

Earlier speaking, the Commander of the Group, Alhaji Shehu Rabiu congratulated the governor for emerging as the executive governor of the state at the 2023 gubernatorial poll.

Badawa restated the group’s commitment to curtail the menace of phone snatching in the state.

He further argued that as a result of their relentless operations ignoble acts, comprising phone snatching, robbery reduced in the state, stressing they will continue to work round the clock to manure peace, adding that they have a good relationship with the Police in the state.
