Mayo-belwa Community mourns famous POS Operator killed by criminal syndicate as police arrest one.

The Mayo-belwa Community has been thrown in to mourning over the brutal killing of a young popular POS operator, Abubakar Yuguda alias “Abbas POS” by members of a suspected local criminal gang in Adamawa state.
Report from the area indicates that the deceased (Abbas),35 years old was trailed and attacked to death by the said criminal gang led by one notorious thief Umar Buba alias “I dey go” on Saturday 22nd March,2025 at about 10:00pm on his way home after closing from his usual business.
Late Abbas,who headed home behind the local government area secretariat was said to be ambushed by a gang of four carrying dangerous weapons which they used in inflicting severe injuries on his head and other parts of his body.
By the time help came to late Abbas from some good Samaritans who rushed him to Mayo-belwa Cottage hospital,he was declared death by the health personal on duty as aggrieved youths chased the assailants where the kingpin by name Umar Buba alias “I dey go” was caught and beaten mercilessly to death by the mob.
An eyewitness who spoke to this reporter under condition of animosity said that the l dey go criminal syndicate has been terrorizing residents of Mayo-belwa and its environs for years stressing that he just came out of prison three weeks ago where he was jailed for three years criminal offence including his girlfriend called ‘Kwada’ for same offence.
“The truth is Umar Buba (I dey go) was the leader of the criminal syndicate robbing residents in this area for years.ln some case he invite criminals from Gombe and Taraba to commit offence in our areas but with his demise, we are relieved indeed.
” The DPO and his men have arrested about 13 youths over the issue but our request is for thorough investigation to be conducted,so that, innocent ones can release unconditionally as provided by the laws of the land”.The eyewitness advocated.
Confirming the incident, the Adamawa State Police Command said it has already launched an investigation into the gruesome killing of the POS operator, Abbas Yuguda, who was attacked in Mayo-Belwa LGA.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje in a press release issued in Yola Monday stated that, the
incident occurred on 22nd March, 2025, where the command’s operatives attached to Divisional police headquarters, Mayo Belwa arrived at the scene and immediately rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital, Mayo-Belwa, in a bid to save his life but sadly he was confirmed dead while on admission receiving treatment.
“On the strength of that, one of the suspects identified as Umar SNU, was trailed by some angry youths, he was subdued to mob action before being rescued by the police. He was equally rushed to Hospital for medical attention now aiding investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, have strongly condemned this act of violence and has directed a thorough and discreet investigation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice warning the public to desist from taking laws into their hands rather allow the law to always take its course”.The release maintained
