Mrs Tinubu donates relief materials, N250 million to victims of Maiduguri flood

The First lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu has donated food, non food items worth millions of Naira and N250 million to the victims of Maiduguri flood.
Presenting the relief materials at the Multipurpose Hall of the Government House Maiduguri on Thursday, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu said ” we are here to pay our solidarity visit and not sympathy visit, because we need to encourage you to get over what has happened and put everything behind”
“When I was coming i was told many women lost their business to the flood. So in addition to the trader money, we decided to put heads together with wife of the Vice President, Mrs Nana Kashim Shettima and resolve to bring N250 million to support 5000 women that lost their businesses to flood where each of them would get N50,000 “, Mrs Tinubu said.
Mrs Tinubu said ” we are here to support the efforts of the governor, the first donation of half a billion is to support the government of Borno state but N250 million is to support women affected by the flood”.
She said Borno is a blessed state and that the flood is to cleanse the land, stressing that any moment they would be visiting the state is for joy and happiness and prayed that such flood will never happened in the state and the country at large.
The first lady prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and replenish to those who lost their property.
Governor Babagana Zulum, while commending President Bola Tinubu and the first lady, Mrs Tinubu for the gesture said Federal Government has done a lot to the people of Borno state. adding that Mrs Tinubu donated the sum of N500 million and that she has came again to donate relief materials and cash to the victims of the flood.
“I want to express my deep appreciation to the President Bola Tinubu and the first lady for what they been doing to the people of Borno state. Today you come again to present relief materials and N250 million support women in Borno,” Zulum added.
Meanwhile, the Minister for health Prof Mohammed Pate has also led the Federation of Pharmaceutical Industry and donated drugs worth million of Naira to the Maiduguri flood victims.
In his remarks, the Minister of Health, Prof Mohammed Pate said the Nigerian Pharmaceutical Industry decided to support the victims of Maiduguri flood.
He said the drugs donated includes anti malaria, antibiotics among other drugs, stressing that the drugs will help in a long way in bringing succour to the victims.
