My dream was to become a VC not Governor — Zulum

Governor Babagana Zulum of Bormo state has said that his dream in life was to be become a Vice Chancellor and not a Governor but as God may have it he is now the Governor of Borno state.
Governmor Babagana Zulum who reveal this during the weekend while speaking at a public Lecture organised in honour of the outgoing Vice Chancellor, University of Maiduguri held at the Inndimi International centre, University of Maiduguri.
“When I join the university as lecturer, my dream was to be a Vice Chancellor but as God may have it I became the Governor of Bormo state. I hope and believe you would allow me to come back to the university after my tenure to filful my dream of becoming a VC”, Zulum said.
The governor said ” the dream of every lecture in a university is to become a VC and exactly, this was what I dreamt of but as God may have it I am a Governor. I am not in government to make money, I believe as a lecturer I contribute to the development of the society more”.
“Those of us from poor background know what we went through in pursuit of education and we don’t want the child of the poor to suffer the same, especially now that education is becoming more expensive, despite the economic hardship”, he further said.
Zulum said there is mismatch between the university graduate and the labour market and advocate for community service and engagement between the educational institution, the labour market and society in. general
He further identify funding as major challenges of the Nigerian Universities and urged the management of the universities to always look inward to improve their Internal Reverse Generation (IGR),, as the overhead cost of the university cannot pay electricity bill talkless of provision of laboratory equipment, water suppy, health famility and diesel.
