NCC extend awareness campaign on dangers of piracy to schools, printing press vendors in Adamawa

In Continuation of its annual routine sensitization exercise on the dangers and illegality of piracy,the Nigerian Copyright Commission,NCC has taken campaign to private schools and printing press enterprises in Adamawa state.

Acting Coordinator of the Commission, NCC, Yusuf Ibrahim explained to the various private school proprietors and executive officials of the printing press ventures visited in Yola on Monday that, the Agency is all out to ensure protection of intellectual property of the book authors.

Ibrahim admonished the vendors to be wary of being engaged in to ventures related to piracy warning that the NCC’s Act has stringent sanctions against defaulters especially those in the industry where most of the printing productions are being conducted.

During the interface with the proprietors and printing executives at their offices, the NCC team inspected textbooks, invoices and receipts containing details of the sources of the books available in their custody(ies) for authentication.

Responding to the visit, the Proprietors of Kim Standard Foundation School,Mrs Elizabeth Abraham Durosimi and Bishaq’ s Global Academy Yola, Aisha Hajja Rilwanu applauded the effort of the NCC stressing that it will go a long way in safeguarding the intellectual property of the original authors of published books.

They pledged to support the government in all measures to improve the quality of our intellectual property by guiding as well as protecting it jealously.

In their separate responses during the visit at their business premises, owners of Valla Printing Enterprise Yola and Alvaris Communities Ltd.Mr.Nuhu Yohanna and Mr Albert Mark Asachaya said that the NCC is doing “a great job” in making their business easy with the awareness campaigns which the public is in dear need.

Earlier in an interview after the inspection and monitoring campaign,the state Coordinator (Ibrahim) described the exercise as “a huge success” noting that it will go a long way in correcting the supply change of the books by schools.

He also called on the federal government to provide more funding, Manpower and logistics for the state office with a view to improve the efficiency of NCC in its scope of coverage in Adamawa,Borno and Gombe states effectively.

Daily Hint Correspondent reports that private schools visited were ; Kim Standard Foundation School Yola, Kay Academy Yola, Naxora Academy Yola, Play and learn school and Bishaq’s Global Academy Yola.

Other business premises visit by the NCC team included; Valla Printing Enterprise and Alvaris Communication Ltd.Yola respectively.
