NMIDVPE appoints taskforce on protection of public assets in Borno State

Nobel Minds Initiative for the Discouragement of Vandalisation of Public Equipments (NMIDVPE), has appointed Comr Dr Baba Gana Isa as taskforce Commissioner/Coordinator for protection of public assets in Borno State.

In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Ikechukwu Chukwu, Chairman and Innocent Ogu, Secretary of NMIDVPE, said the appointment was approved by the governing board trustees of NMIDVPE.

It said the appointment takes effect from June 1, 2024 to expired May 31, 2026.

“We write to confirm the decision of the Governing Board of Trustees of NMIDVPE and its collaborated stakeholders.

“To appoint you as the Borno State Petroleum and Solid Minerals Markaters Taskforce Commissioner/ Coordinator 1.

“You and your team are authorised to manage the affairs of NMIDVPE in the territory of Borno State,” the statement said.

The statement said the team was to eliminate looting of public funds and properties, eliminate vandalisation of government equipment, bunkering and hoardings.

Others responsibilities of the team was to eliminate dubious middlemen, sharp business practices, artificial scarcity and adulteration of petroleum products in the state.

The statement said that part of efforts was to eradicate all forms of illegalities in the petroleum and solid minerals sectors.

It added that all necessary working tools and support would be provided to enable the team discharge their responsibilities with maximum cooperation from stakeholders and relevant agencies.

The Association of Nigerian Petroleum and Solid Minerals Taskforce, is a non Governmental organisation pledge to work with the Federal Government to eradicate/combat/stop all the irregularities in the Petroleum and Solid Minerals sector of the Nigerian economy.

The main activity of the Association is to checkmate all the irregularities that concern both the Petroleum and Solid Minerals sectors, that would no doubt boost and offer stronger support to the Nigerian economy.

The irregularities within the Petroleum sector which includes bunkering, hoarding, diversion, meter shunting, adulteration and so on, while in the Solid minerals foreigners became middle men, sponsoring illegal miners, taking away precious minerals and raw minerals without any approved license, exploiting the country.

We have Criminal elements everywhere in the country vandalising critical infrastructures of the Government such as Oil and Gas pipe lines, water lines, electricity cables, transformers, street lights and so many.

Were saddle with the responsibility of eradicating all these excesses by arresting the offenders through the legal process and taking them to court.

The main interest of our Government is to join hands in reducing if not totally eradicate and also generate more revenue to the Government through penalties and so on.

Comrade Dr Baba Gana Isa is à veteran labour leader with vast and versatile experience in labour and trade unionism spanning over 25 years , with his experience couple with the caliber of the State Council leadership, it is expected that public assets of Borno State will be safeguarded
