Operation Hadin-Kai, BOCODEP Trains Officers, Journalists On Military, Media, National interest in Borno

To promote understanding between military and the media, the Northeast Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), of the Nigerian Army in collaborations with the Borno Collation for Democracy and Progress (BOCODEP), has trained journalists and Army Public Relations Officers on the Military media and national interest to foster understanding of military operations and accurate reportage.

Speaking at the workshop held at the NUJ Press Centre Maiduguri, on Wednesday the theater Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major General, Gold Chibuisi said the workshop was aimed at fostering understanding, Cooperation between the military and the media for successful operations.

“These workshop is aimed to bridging the gap between the military and media, especially the operation Hadin Kai theater command.the current operation has contributed to achieving relative peace in the Northeast this couldn’t have achieve without the nedia. This workshop is a veritable tool to bridge the gap between the military and the media, thereby fostering understanding and cooperation in ensuring peace is completely restored back to the region, “, the theater Commander added.

He said ” the topics to be delivered were carefully selected to meet the needs of the workshop with the theme ” The military, media and national interest”, I therefore urge you to make use of the opportunity provided by the workshop to bridge that gap”.

In his welcome address, the lead consultant, BOCODEP Prof. Nuhu Gapsiso said the media plays a great role in the military operations, especially the fight against insurgency in the Northeast and national interest.

“The topic of the workshop were meticulously selected to address issues of military operations for national interest and foster understanding and cooperation”, Prof Gapsiso said..

Papers delivered during the workshop includes Psychological and information warfare, in the interest of military coverage, the role of mass media in reporting national interest and security, ethical considerations in reporting military operations and impact of the coverage of political patronage of military combat, challenges faced by journalists covering military combat in conflict zones, the influence of social media and new media, Technologies in shaping public opinion during military operations among others.
