Out of School Girls Program In Adamawa: We Hope Communities Will Come -AGILE, AF

By Muh’d Shafi’u Saleh

Over 3,000 girls, who are not in school, will have the opportunity to attend school and get quality education under the Second Chance Education Opportunities for Out of School Girls and Young Women in Adamawa State.

Madam Ruth Stanley, made this known while speaking at a one-day training workshop organized by the state government in collaboration with Rhoma Enterprise on the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE -AF in Yola on Saturday, saying the project would be implemented in 74 centres across the state.

She said that they had observed that poverty and deprivation were the main obstacles that hindered parents from sending their children to school, adding that the beneficiaries of the program were between the ages of 10 and 19.

She also outlined some of the benefits of the program to the beneficiaries, including empowering girls and women to return to school, improving their health, and reducing poverty in the community.

Dr John Ngamsa Rhoma Director and Chief Executive Office of Lead consultant Rhoma Multimedia Resource center Yola, said the project requires the involvement of the entire community.

He continued that it is estimated that 20 million children are out of school, of which about 15 million are in northern Nigeria, therefore the project of getting children back to school provides it with a new dimension, which includes the involvement of communities to do the same.

In his speech on strategies and Tools for Creating Effective AGILE-AF Mr Billy Grahama Able media consultant with Rhoma multimedia Resource Center hoped that the developing girls in the state would benefit the community and the Adamawa State government and the nation as a whole.
