Parents, Guardians of selected students appeal to Gov. Fintiri to fulfill scholarship promise in Adamawa

Parents and Guardians of 100 selected students billed for study scholarship to China have cried out to Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to fulfill his promise of sponsoring them to further their studies overseas.
Recall that in November 2024, as part of Fintiri’s administration priority on education made an official announcement through the media for o’level qualify indigenes to apply for study opportunities in China which these lucky were screened and shortlisted but no concrete response since then.
Some of the students expressed worries with the process which has took long time lamenting that their future is hanging in the balance because they couldn’t access the learning institutions in the country with the expectation of enjoying the state government’s scholarship scheme which seems not to be forthcoming.
Aisha Yusuf in an interview with the media commended the state government for the forth sigh of offering them the proposed opportunity to study under scholarship programme as enjoy by students in other states but decried the delay and lack of any information about their fate rather rumors being peddle in the state that the process may have been suspended.
Yusuf advanced that the more disturbing situation is that the Ministry of education was said to have asked them to come forward to collect their original documents in their custody urging the government to help them in realizing their dreams through quality studies.
“We please plead with our own Governor Fintiri to be a man of his word by sponsoring us as planned so that posterity would be favourable to him”. Yusuf prayed.
Another male student who pleaded for anonymity said that the development had thrown their parents and Guardians in confusion considering the time so far spent without any tangible result whether to be or not to be.
“This matter is disturbing me and my parents, and ideally the government need to come out to inform us categorically if it had suspended the program or it will go ahead,so that,we can have rest of mind”.He opined.
A parent,Yakubu Musa registered his disappointment over the time wasted by their wards waiting patiently for the offer but no good response to quinch their tasty ascribing it to lack proper communication between them and the government
Musa called on the government to help secure the admission for their children so that they can be useful to themselves, parents and the society at large after acquiring the education as arranged.
Commenting on the issue,An analyst in education sector, Dr. Jibrilla Adamu told the media that the situation is regrettable on the side of the government not to fulfill the promise made to youngsters stressing that at any given circumstance,a promise is a bond that build trust between the government and its citizens.
Adamu encourage the state government to do what ever it takes to fulfill the promise made to these hundred students full of energy explaining that failure of the government to do the needful is a huge set back to the development of education and the state at large.He therefore advised Governor Fintiri’s administration to work over the stumbling block in production of more professionals to the state.
Responding to the development, Dr.Pella Garba Umar, Commissioner of education told the media that the state government has already screened and confiled the best students and are in administrative talks with the Chinese expertrates who will soon process the admission for the potential students.
Answering a question on the time frame for the subsequent movement to China by the effected students,Umar replied saying it is no actual or tentative time for the airlift until all procedures are completed between the state government and the Chinese authorities.
When contacted on the situation, the consultant of the admission process, Hajiya Maryam Umar Kano confirmed that it was true, her organization have gave the Adamawa state government scholarship offers with free tuition in November 2024 .
Maryam explained that, the first offers was provided through a firm called ‘Al-Sadal Company ‘ which was said to have been approved by the Governor for the students to be taken to China for studies but that offers expired in the month of September 2025.
Maryam added that considering the already established engagement with the government she used her company by name Mariana Company ltd to secure new admission offers in to English degree courses and Chinese diploma courses in different skills acquisition programs with duration of three years which will expire in the month of March 2026.
She stated that her company has completed all necessary arrangements only waiting for the passports and the police character details and the go ahead mandate of the Adamawa state government to continue the process assuring that her firm is a reputable and reliable partner in such business who will not default in its responsibility.
“Due to my frequent visits and interactions with the parents and the students,some of them having calling me to inquire about the pending proposal and I having telling them that we are still expecting from the state government soon so that the new offer shouldn’t expired in March 2026.
“From now up to November 2025, if the government give us the approval,we can still meet up with the dateline in March 2026 for selected students be given the opportunity to study in China.
“We also appeal to the Adamawa state government through Governor Fintiri to kindly give us the approval for the offers secured so that the parents, guardians and affected students would be very grateful to him for providing them this rare and golden opportunity to further their studies overseas”.
