Patricia Yakubu and her cacophony of infantile tantrums
By Mustapha Atiku Ribadu
It is usually very dangerous to hire a charge and bail lawyer to represent you on any serious legal matter as he will naturally help you sink further into the abyss.
Such is my view about the cacophony of infantile and libellous tantrums contained in the contentious allegations by APC women leader Patricia Yakubu against my humble self and some high ranking individuals in the party.
The slanderous piece which was deliberately contrived with the mission to blackmail and defamed notable party leaders and chieftains ostensibly to bring the party to disrepute is a classical display of desperation, brigandage and disrespect for the rule of law, otherwise, it should not be brought to the court of public opinion.
Some of the crassly libelous, defamatory, and disingenuous accusations that stand logic on the head could not stand even the rigours of the court of public opinion being what they are; fiction from the pit of hell.
This rejoinder will have been unnecessary because even a layman can decipher the frivolities, contradictions and outright falsehoods contained in the slanderous publication which Patricia wanted to use in order to arm twists the party from demanding an account of how she discharge the trust given to her.
But since the issue has been brought to the limelight of public discourse, it is pertinent for us to make clarifications in order to put the record straight and to disabuse the minds of the public who may be deceived by the cacophony of lies to sympathize with the women leader.
In the poorly written disquisition, replete with half truths, misinformation and disinformation, Patricia Yakubu disingenuously shot herself in the foot when she alluded to the fact that she has been evading summons of the party to respond to the surfeit allegations of fraud and economic malfeasance brought against her by lga women leaders hiding under all sorts of infantile excuses.
In line with the party’s extant constitutional provisions, Patricia Yakubu was given the right of fair hearing, culminating in her invitation to come forward and answer allegations of malfeasance and financial impropriety brought against her. If the party should behave in a similar passion with Patricia, her invitation detailing her infractions should have gone to the court of public opinion. But since the party respects the rule of law, it decided to follow due process in dealing with the matter and maintaining utmost secrecy in line with best practices.
But instead of her to fulfill all righteousness and exculpate herself from such weighty accusations so as to clear her name, she derisively goes to the court of public opinion with trump up, spurious and infantile accusations to besmirch the party. That action in itself is a serious indictment on her, had she known.
One of the accusations I found most disingenuous is the one she heaped on our respected party secretary, Dr Raymond Chidama, whom she accused of sexual molestation. As it is said, the onus of proof lies with the accuse, and we await Patricia Yakubu to come up with her defence.
But in all honesty, that accusation must have been made out of hallucination, wickedness, dearth of fear of God or a combination of the three, otherwise, nothing of that sort took place during our visit to Sen. AbdulAziz Nyako to the best of my knowledge. It beggars belief to convince people that even if Dr Chidama is the randiest man on earth, he would not contemplate sexual assault on a colleague not at APC secretariat where he held sway as the state scribe, but at an unfamiliar turf like Sen. AbdulAziz house where we went on reconciliatory visit. But as I said, the onus of proof lies with the accuser, and we await her evidence. Otherwise, the party shall be left with the only option of seekin legal redress.
The other weighty allegation that bothers on the misappropriation of huge sums of money to the tune of N500m came to me not only as a rude shock but with trepidation over the capacity of human beings for mischief. This cavalier allegation really beggars belief. It provokes a number of inquisitions about whether Adamawa APC is amoney-makingg machine or an appendage of the CBN. But as I said, the onus of proof lies with the accuse, and we urge Patricia Yakubu to come up with evidence of this allegation or have her day in court.
The other allegation I want to respond to is directly connected with me, as my name has prominently featured in it. The tell tale has it that the party received a princely sum of N25m from TETFUND through a BDC whose name she failed to state. This cheap blackmail also failed to state what the money is meant for or what job we delivered to justify receiving such huge sums from TETFUND. But as I have said, the onus of proof lies on the accuse, and we also want Patricia to come clean on this too.
To be more blunt, the three of us under Patricia’s censorship don’t know about any money in connection with TETFUND or any BDC and have never undertaken any contract for or on behalf of the organization. And let me go a bit further by placing a curse on Patricia or anyone who has details of the said transaction but fail to bring it as evidence against us.
In a desperate desire to blackmail us, Patricia made a Freudian slip by saying that we removed N2m from N15m and the balance was N48m. Well, she has all the grace to come up wit clear evidence.
Hear her “sometime in Dec 2023, the former minister of education, Prof Tahir equally gave party executive N15m for Christmas, but only N50,000 was given to each exc, which is less than N2m deficit unaccounted for.” This mathematics glaringly fails the test of mathematics of logic. But desperate people always end up making a disastrous outing in a similar passion.
I also want to categorically and in unambiguous language use this opportunity to debunk selling rice and fertilizer allegedly availed to me for distribution to members of the public. Again I wanted to place a curse on Patricia or anyone who has evidence of such malfeasance and decided to hide it.
In her appalling treatise, she made allusions that TETFund gave us a contact for the benefit of the members but as usual failed to state how much was earmarked for the contract, and the name of the contactors. Since she is sure that the contract was meant for us she should state those who hijacked the contract so that we can retrieve what rightly belongs to our members.
Finally, I want to distance ourselves from keeping in custody monies allegedly sent to us by Comrade Salihu Mustapha. Mustapha is still alive, and I believe he will be in the best position to make this accusation unless if she is accusing Comrade Mustapha Salihu of stealing the money. He will also stand as my witness unlike Patricia Yakubu who failed to come forward to clear her name, I will go to any length to clear my name from hound dogs and unconscionable mudslingers
History is always on the side of the oppressed and maligned.
