Police arrest 2 over murder of 3 farmers in renewed tribal clash in Adamawa.

Two suspects have been arrested by the Adamawa state police Command over the murder of three (3) female farmers in a renewed tribal conflict between,natives of Bachawa and chobo in Lamurde local government area in the state.

Spokesman of the Command,Sp Suleiman Nguroje disclosed the hint in a press statement issued weekend in Yola stressing that the three farmers were reported killed by suspected Bachawa youth through an ambush while working on their farmlands on Saturday in Tigno village.

Nguroje in the statement explained that, intelligence information and swift action by the police made the apprehension of the two suspects including; Williams Joshua,30 yrs old and Ezekiel Luka, 23 yrs old and residents of Tigno village in Lamurde local council.

According to the statement, preliminary checks conducted have led to the discovery of dangerous weapons in their custody indicating that; 29 rounds of live ammunition, one magazine of AK-47 rifle, and ₦90,000 in cash were recovered.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has swiftly responded to the renewed Lamurde tribal conflict between the two natives of Bachama and Chobo, leading to the killing of three women and the apprehension of two suspects.

“Three women were allegedly attacked and killed yesterday, 3rd January, 2026, by some Bachama natives on their farm around Tigno village, Lamurde LGA.

“Suspects arrested following reliable information were; William Joshua, 30 years and Ezekiel Luka, 23 years. All residents of Tigno, in Lamurde LGA.

“Preliminary investigation conducted so far led to the recovery of some offensive weapons in their possession as the
Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, appealed for calm assuring the Command’s commitment in doing every thing humanly and legally possible to bring perpetrators and their instigators to book.

“The suspects at hand are now aiding investigation”. The statement added.

It could be recall that the Bachawa and Tsobo communities have been engaging themselves especially the youth in a prolonged farmland conflicts which have claimed lives and destroyed properties worth millions of naira consequently the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s led administration has been making frantic efforts to address the communal conflicts.
