Police arrest a 33 yr old wanted suspect over alleged kidnapping in Adamawa

A 33 year old man,Abdulhamid Halilu of Guzubeta-Barikin sajo community, Song local government area of Adamawa state has been arrested by the police for alleged kidnapping and violent crimes.

Spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the arrest through a press release on Sunday in Yola stressing that, detectives attached to the Girei Divisional headquarters of the command acting on a intelligence report apprehended the suspect (Halilu).

Nguroje explained that, the suspect was arrested on Saturday 7th February, 2026 while making business transactions at a shopping mall in Girei noting that he has been on the security wanted list for a while.

“The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the State, following sustained intelligence gathering and proactive policing strategies aimed at protecting lives and property.

“On 7th February, 2026, operatives of the Command attached to Girei Divisional Headquarters, acting on intelligence-led operations, arrested one suspected kidnapper identified as Abdulhamid Halilu, 33 years old, of Guzubeta in Barikin Sajo via Song Local Government Area.

“The suspect, who had been on the Command’s wanted list for alleged involvement in kidnapping activities terrorizing Song LGA and its environs, was apprehended at Girei Market.

“Items recovered from the suspect include the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000) cash, assorted food items including roasted chickens, energy drinks, soft drinks, and snacks estimated at about Two Hundred and Thirty Thousand Naira (₦230,000), suspected to be logistics intended for criminal operations.

“The suspect is currently in custody and providing useful information to aid the ongoing investigations, while the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command has been directed to takeover and conduct discreet investigation with a view to apprehending other members of the syndicate”. The statement maintained.

However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankombo urge members of the public to always come forward to the Police with credible information on any suspicious activities for prompt action.
