Police arrests one of Maiduguri flood prison escapee, Kyari Kur in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has arreated a 28 year old, Kyari Kur, one of the prisoners that escaped during the recent flood that ravaged, Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Kyari Kur was serving a jail term for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri but unfortunately, he escaped due to the devastating flood incident in September 2024, which collapsed the fence.
The Borno state police command in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), ASP Nahum Daso said “on October 10, 2024, police surveillance at Gubio divisional headquarters received a credible tip-off that Kur was sighted in Gubio town. Swiftly responding to the information and apprehended Kur”.
The police said the convict has been profiled and will be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.
ASP Daso said the command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Mohammed Lawal Yusufu, has successfully re-arrested escaped convict Kyari Kur (aka Henry), 28 years old.
“The Borno State Police Command remains committed to ensuring public safety and justice. We appreciate the public’s cooperation and urge them to continue providing timely information.” – CP ML Yusufu”, statement added.
