Police refutes armed robbery attack on Gov. Fintiri’s convoy in Adamawa.
From Umar Dankano, Yola.
Following a recent rumor on social media outlets that, the Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s convoy was attacked by armed robbery suspects ,the State Police command has refuted the story.
In a press statement issued by the image maker of the Command,SP Suleiman Nguroje in Yola Thursday described the development as “not only misleading but totally lacking in-depth and accurate reportage”.
Part of the statement reads “the facts is that On 19/12/2024, the advance security vehicle of the Adamawa State Governor’s convoy, while returning from Taraba State, encountered a roadblock mounted by suspected local robbers.
“As part of its standard operational procedures for VIP’s movements, the advance vehicle was ahead of the convoy. Upon reaching the scene, the roadblock had forced commuters to discontinue their movement, with vehicles parked along the road.
“The advance security team, conveying gallant officers, promptly responded by chasing the armed robbers, cleared the road, and ensures the safe continuation of movement for all motorists.
“On the strength of that gallant act, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commend the officers for being proactive and appeal to social media handlers to always verify their facts before making it public.
“The Command equally thank journalists both within and outside the state for their contributions and support especially in the areas of sensitizing and educating members of the public in peace keeping”. The statement added.
Recall that,a published story recently trended on the social media with the caption “Machanical fault saves Governor’s convoy from armed robbers” generated mixed reactions in the public domain creating unnecessary tension and confusion among the people in the state.
