From Umar Dankano, Yola.

The Senator representing Adamawa Northern District in the Senate, Senator Amos Yohanna has threw his weight behind his bill proposing the establishment of a Federal Medical Eye Centre in Adamawa state.

Recall that Senator Aminu Iya Abbas of the Adamawa Central sponsored the bill at the floor of the Senate aiming to becoming a medical health hub centre with the sole focus on eye treatment for the North East states.

Senator Yohanna expressed his support through a press statement issued Monday describing the move as a right step towards the right direction.

Yohanna stated that formation of such edifice in Adamawa would address the region’s growing demand for specialized eye care services and improve healthcare accessibility.

In his endorsement, Senator Yohanna emphasized the critical need for accessible medical facilities that can cater to the health challenges of both Adamawa residents and people from neighboring areas.

He highlighted that the proposed center would significantly ease the burden on existing healthcare institutions by offering comprehensive eye care services locally, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for treatment.

He also urged for the swift passage of the Bill, stressing that the center’s establishment would play a vital role in improving healthcare outcomes in the region reiterating that such an initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that citizens particularly those in rural communities receive the medical attention they deserve.

According to the statement,If the bill is passed, the Federal Medical Eye Center in Jimeta would not only provide essential ophthalmological services but also create employment opportunities and promote medical research in the field of eye care, further boosting the state’s healthcare sector.
