Senator Yaroe visit victims of Bachama, Tsobo clash, calls for peace, unity

From Umar Dankano, Yola.

Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe of the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District has commiserated with the victims of the Bachawa and Tsobo communal clash in Lamurde local government area of the state.

Recall that the two communities have in recent times recorded a civil unrest as a result of age-long chieftaincy and farm lands disagreement which claimed lives and properties despite the state government several interventions to broker peace.

During his visit to these communities on Thursday, Senator Yaroe registered his displeasure over the issue noting that, the importance of peace can never be over emphasized as no society can develop or attain its full potential in the absence of peace and stability.

‎Senator Yaroe urged the communities to embrace calm and allow peace to prevail stressing for all and sundry to sheathe their swords and give room for dialogue, reconciliation and lasting peace.

‎He said while addressing the affected victims in their communities visited that, his visit aimed at calming frayed nerves, assessing the level of damage caused by the crisis and gathering first-hand information that would enable him to present a comprehensive report to the Senate.

He noted that communal disputes are better resolved through constructive engagement, dialogue and mediation rather than violence, which only deepens divisions and inflicts lasting damage on communities.

‎He further recalled that for decades, the Bachama and Tsobo communities have lived side by side as brothers bound together through intermarriages, trade and commerce observing that, these long-standing social and economic ties have created a relationship that should not be allowed to disintegrate because of emerging socio-economic challenges or misunderstandings.

“My decision to visit your communities was particularly significant given that l am still recuperating from a major health challenge that required surgery towards the end of last year.

“So l urge you all to give peace a chance because no society can achieve any meaningful development without peace and stability, lets embrace dialogue in any disagreement or difference between us as a people “. Yaroe appealed.

The Senator and his team through out the day toured several affected victims in their communities including; Gamadio, Rigange and Bashakka villages across Numan and Lamurde Local Government Areas.

At each location, he sympathized with victims, encouraged renewed unity and peaceful coexistence, and distributed relief materials to ease their suffering.

During the visits, food and Non food relief items were donated to the victims including; 400 bags of 25kg rice, 80 gallons of cooking oil, 200 cartons of spaghetti, 200 brocade materials, 200 yards of fabric, cash support and assorted children’s clothing.

According to the senator the gesture was meant to provide temporary relief while longer-term solutions are pursued pledging to report the matter before the national Assembly as soon it resumes.

‎Traditional rulers, community leaders and leaders of internally displaced persons (IDPs) praised Senator Yaroe for identifying with the victims despite his health challenges in their moment of pains and distress.

‎In Gamadio, the IDP camp leader, Barris David, thanked the senator for his compassion and concern, describing the visit as a morale booster for displaced persons praying for God to grant the senator good health and long life to continue serving his people.

David also lamented that during the attack on their village, Waduku, residents lost virtually everything and appealed to the senator to use his position to facilitate the rebuilding of the community.

‎Similarly, in Rigange, the District Head, Mr. Kpana Linus Ishaya, represented by his secretary, Mr. Chikauno Audu, expressed gratitude to the senator for his concern and intervention.

‎He also offered prayers for the senator’s full recovery, noting that his leadership and presence were crucial at this time.

‎At Bashakka village, community leaders poured encomiums on Senator Yaroe, commending his foresight, empathy and commitment to his constituents. They assured him of their readiness to formally present their key concerns through an official memo, while also praying for his continued good health.
