By Nura Musa Gusau
Men of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation Hadarin Jadi, have destroyed terrorists enclaves, neutralised scores of them and recovered arms and ammunition in Zamfara and Sokoto states.
This was contained in a press release by the spokesperson for the troops, Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, and made available to newsmen on Thursday.
Yahaya said the troops have intensified their onslaught against the terrorists to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property during the Yuletide.
He said, “Today, December 14, 2023, troops of the OPHD coordinated a clearance operation within Dada, Rukudawa and Dumburum villages in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
“During the operation, an encounter ensued between the troops and the marauding terrorists which the troops’ power superiority forced the terrorists to retreat and flee with gunshot wounds while one of them was neutralised.
“Furthermore, the troops advanced aggressively and destroyed enclaves of dreaded terrorist kingpins, Gwaska Dan Karami and Dangote, who abandoned their hideouts and escaped in disarray.”
Yahaya stated that in a mop-up, the troops recovered two guns, two motorcycles, different pairs of military camouflage uniforms, communication gadgets and ammunition.
In another operation, Yahaya said the combined troops of OPHD in Sokoto State, during a clearance operation, neutralised four terrorists in Masasa village of the state.
He maintained that during the encounter, several terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds as troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, two Tecno phones and N282,050 cash.
