VP Kashim Shettima: The Once Outspoken Political Granduer
By Dan Koje
Though Buhari was a military dictator, he gave his VP Osinbajo visibility and leverage to manage vital aspects of policy in his 8-year disastrous “democratic” rule. Osinbajo even presided as Acting Commander in Chief on different occasions, signing critical bills into law.
Tinubu’s VP Shettima once advised Osinbajo to go and sell ice cream, because he saw him as a “weak” man not suited for Nigerian politics.
Today, ironically, Shettima has been completely sidelined by the Tinubu regime dominated by the Lagos political academy.
Wike, Akpabio and even Tinubu’s son Seyi, have more say in this government than Shettima.
Tinubu has turned the once fiery Shettima who was instrumental in bringing down Goodluck Jonathan’s administration through his several clandestine visits to Washington and Europe while strategising on the BBOG scam, to a reticent imbecile.
