Water Scarcity: Gov. Buni Orders Supply Of Diesel To Boreholes In Damaturu

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has directed the supply of diesel to all boreholes in Damaturu the state capital and its environs to ease the problem of water scarcity being faced by the residents in the past few days respectively.
According to the report the directive was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Baba Malam Wali, and made available to newsmen, by the Press Secretary to SSG Shuaibu Abdullahi in Damaturu.
In a statement, Governor Buni said there was enough diesel for distribution to enable the powering of all boreholes in the affected areas, promising that the problem would be resolved accordingly in a short period of time.
According to the report residents of Damaturu and its environs had been battling with acute water scarcity as a result of the destruction of the 330kv electricity line by some unknown vandals few days ago.
Actually this has made it difficult to power borehole generators that would supply potable water to residents of Damaturu the state capital.
