Yobe Begins Distribution Of Palliatives To Orpharnages Across The State

The Yobe State Government on Tuesday began distribution of palliatives to orphanages across the state, to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on the homes.
The Executive Secretary (ES), Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, YOSEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje, flagged off the distribution on Tuesday in Damaturu.
Goje said 8000 registered orphans through 36 Orphanages and Care Givers would benefit from the gesture which would also be replicated in some other orphanage homes across the state.
“Over 8000 Registered Orphans through 36 Orphanages and Care Givers identified by Association of Orphanages and Home Operators (ASOHON) Yobe State branch to recieved Palliative Support.
“As directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, over 8000 orphans will recieve Food Basket as Palliatives to cushion the hardship during this lean season and subsidy removal period”.
Goje said, the 8000 orphans are those registered with 36 orphanages and care givers under the umbrella of ASOHON.
According to him, Items will be distributed directly to the heads of the orphanages homes. This support will continue within available resources.
“The State Emergency Management Agency is committed to provide humanitarian relief to our people in times of needs.
“The current hardship faced by the orphans and the vulnerables due to removal of petrol subsidy has called for support. Thus, we need to help in addressing the issue.
“This is a flag-off and we are going to provide same to other orphanages in other parts of the state,” he said.
Receiving the food baskets, the representatives of the Orphanages, appreciated Governor Mai Mala Buni and Goje for the gesture.
