Yobe Emerges Top 3 In 2024 State’s Health Budget In Nigeria
By Usman Bello, Damaturu.
Yobe State government under the leadership of HE Gov. Mai Mala Buni has achieved yet another milestone as it’s ranked the top third with the highest percentage of sectoral allocation to health as per state in the 2024 State’s Health Budget ranking among 36 states of the federation.
The ranking was evidence as generated from the latest report released by a renowned data firm statisense.
Statisense is a leading data firm that’s using AI to simplify data and documents for businesses, consumers, and governments.
According to the report, Yobe 15.1% came after the states of Kano with 16.5%, followed by Kaduna with 15.6%, respectively.
This record highlights the commitment of the Yobe State government to prioritizing and improving financing for health in conformity with the Abuja declaration.
In 2001, African countries set a target of allocating at least 15% of their annual budget to the health sector, known as the Abuja declaration, this agreement was further re-emphasized by the African leaders last year and was only achieved by a few African countries and states.
By ranking among the top three states in terms of health budget allocation, Yobe State is demonstrating its dedication to strengthening its healthcare infrastructure, providing adequate resources for healthcare professionals, and improving access to quality healthcare services for its residents.
This achievement not only reflects positively on the leadership of His Excellency, Hon Mai Mala Buni but also signifies a step forward in achieving the state’s healthcare goals.
This is to commend all arms of government particularly the Executive and Legislature, donor partners, Health INGOs/NGOs, health sector managers and stakeholders, and CSOs among others for the vital roles they played in achieving this goal.
