Yobe Inspects Flyover, Mega Park, Hospital Projects to Boost Urban Development

By Hussaini Ibrahim

YOBE, Nigeria — The Yobe State Government on Wednesday conducted an extensive inspection of key infrastructure projects in Damaturu and Buni Yadi as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen urban development, improve public services and enhance residents’ quality of life.

The inspection was led by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Ahmed Buba Kyari, during a media tour of strategic projects executed under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Among the projects inspected was the Damaturu Flyover, a major urban transport intervention designed to ease traffic congestion and improve road safety in the state capital. The flyover features a 460-metre bridge span and a 600-metre underpass, providing smoother vehicular movement across key traffic corridors.

Kyari also inspected the Damaturu Mega Modern Park, a large-scale facility with parking capacity for about 500 vehicles. The park is expected to decongest the city centre, improve traffic management and create a more organised urban environment.

Daily Hint gathered that the tour further covered the Buni Yadi Specialist Hospital, a critical health infrastructure project aimed at expanding access to specialised medical services for residents of Gujba Local Government Area and neighbouring communities.

Also inspected was the Buni Yadi Sports Centre, a facility designed to promote youth development, sports excellence and community engagement, in line with the state’s broader human capital development agenda.

In Damaturu, the commissioner visited the Gambir Road project, a key urban road expected to improve connectivity within the metropolis and support commercial and social activities.

The inspection concluded at the August 27 Stadium, Damaturu, one of the state’s flagship sporting facilities undergoing upgrades to meet modern standards and host major sporting and civic events.

Kyari said the projects reflect Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to balanced development across sectors, noting that infrastructure remains central to the administration’s vision for economic growth, social stability and improved service delivery.

“These projects are deliberate investments by the Buni administration to improve mobility, healthcare, sports development and urban management across Yobe State,” the commissioner said.

He added that the government is determined to ensure timely completion and optimal utilisation of the projects to deliver maximum benefits to residents.

According to him, the ongoing inspections are part of routine oversight measures to ensure quality, accountability and value for money in all government-funded projects.

The commissioner reaffirmed that the state government would continue to prioritise infrastructure development as a foundation for economic diversification, job creation and sustainable urban growth in Yobe State.
