By Usman Bello
Yobe State Government on Tuesday led partners at the launch of the Lean Season Nutrition Multi-Sector Plan.
The gathering brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies and interventions aimed at mitigating the impact of the 2024 lean season on food security and nutrition.
The six-month Lean Season Plan aims to mobilize critical funding and resources to urgently address the food insecurity and malnutrition crisis in the Yobe states, as reported in the Government-led Cadre Harmonisé food security analysis of March 2024.
The plan also covers health, water and sanitation interventions to help address the underlying causes of malnutrition. Food insecurity has grown at an alarming rate this year to the highest levels recorded in the BAY states in the last six years.

Hon Commissioner MHADM Dr Mairo A Amshi MFR led the team in the deliberations and official launch of the plan.
