Yobe State Excelling In Education, Health, Youth Development Under Buni’s Administration – Mairiga

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajiya Fatima Mairiga said that the Yobe State government is excelling under his excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration.

According to her those criticizing the performance of the Governor “are doing it for their political gain, it has become paramount for me to come out and defend this administration, this gentleman is trying his best in moving Yobe State forward. Series of people-oriented policies and programmes have been initiated to better the lives of the citizens”.

“When Governor Mai Mala Buni came on board, at his inaugural speech he declared a state of emergency on the education sector where he set up a committee for the revitalizing the education sector. Education Trust Fund was formed and prominent and experienced people were appointed to lead the Trust Fund.

“They wasted no time in swinging into action, an appeal fund was organized across the state and beyond. The money realized was invested into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) where some part of the dividend was given to the Trust Fund. The Trust Fund is currently using the resources to address some immediate challenges of some selected Primary and Secondary Schools in the state. So far the Yobe Education Trust Fund has drilled solar-powered boreholes in schools, constructed VIP latrines, provided staff and students desks as well and renovated and put into use some schools such as the Mai Mala Buni Model School Damaturu. The Committee is fully committed to improving the enrollment and learning environment across the state. This should not come as magic, it has to be gradual “

She further revealed some steps taken by Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration in the education sector “There’s an effort to provide health facilities to each of the 178 electoral wards of the state, so far I think about 138 have been completed and put into use. The Teaching Hospital, medical college, and others are fully equipped and enjoyed by the people of the state and beyond. The Governor has upgraded many Primary healthcare facilities to General Hospitals and General Hospitals to Specialist Hospitals, people need to appreciate these achievements, the data now has indicated that Yobeans no longer travel to neighboring states for medical care rather people from neighboring states now come to Yobe for medical care”.

The incumbent administration has given the youths a sense of belonging, the Governor has fulfilled his campaign pledge of carrying the youths along in governance, many have been appointed into public and political offices while others trained with skills to get employed and become employers of labor.”
