Yobe State Ministry of Agriculture, Concludes Two-Day Training For Extension Workers
…As Commissioner Presents 200 Motorcycles To Trainees
By Aishatu Tijjani
The Yobe State Ministry of Agriculture today concluded a two-day training for extension workers from across the 17 local government areas of the state designed to keep them abreast of the latest developments and best practices in extension service.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources Ali Mustapha Goniri, who declared the workshop closed, presented 200 motorcycles to the trainees on behalf of the state government to facilitate their movement and capacity to provide outreach services across local farming communities.
The Commissioner urged the trainees to apply the knowledge gained during the workshop to support local farmers and enhance productivity and food security in the state.
Goniri commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his unwavering commitment to supporting the agricultural sector, and his emphasis on crop and livestock production.
He emphasized that participants were selected based on merit rather than political affiliation, underscoring the importance of efficient service delivery to achieving the ministry’s objectives.
The commissioner also clarified that the motorcycles given to the extension workers are exclusively for official work and will be reassigned to incoming officers when a staff member retires or leaves the services of the Ministry. “They are strictly for official use and not for personal or commercial purposes”, he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Binta Zakari from Potiskum Local Government Area, expressed her readiness for the task, vowing to justify the confidence reposed in her, particularly as a symbol of gender equality in the agric sector.
