Yobe State Scholarships Board Held a Symposium on Education and Scholarship Opportunities.
In other to discuss scholarships and other education support schemes, the Yobe State Scholarships Board held a one day symposium that brought together repsentatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, those of the Nelfund, Student Union leaders and heads of Student Affairs of various tertiary institutions in the State, Focal Persons on education and other stakeholders. Conversations at the event revolved around the benefits of the new students loan scheme, plans to unveil the 2025 Yobe State Government Scholarship and Bursaries as well as the other opportunities that students of tertiary institutions can explore to support their education.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Vice Chancellor academics of the Yobe State University, Prof. Muhammad Musa Lawan disclosed that so far, 2000 students of the University are benefiting from the NELFUND scheme and that over 100 million naira was paid by Nelfund to tye University on behalf of applicants. These monies he says are being refunded to the beneficiaries being that they have paid their fees earlier.
The Executive Secretary of the Scholarships Board, Associate Professor Kagu Abubakar insisted on the student leaders and staff of the colleges and polytechnics to work towards ensuring that students take full advantage of the Nelfund scheme.
In his goodwill remark, the National President of Yobe Students thanked Gov. Buni for his unwavering support to education and calls on fellow students to work hard as a way of justifying the effort that government is making to ensure every citizenry benefits from the quality education put in place by Gov. Buni’s led administration of purposeful impartation.
