YOBE WEEKEND REVIEW ON GOV. BUNI’S OUTSTANDING SERVICE DELIVERY

His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe state, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON performed some state functions to improve efficiency in governance and service delivery to improve the lives of the citizenry.

The Governor’s engagements for the week started on 30th April, 2024 with a marathon media interview in which he xrayed and disected, governance, service delivery in all the sectors, and citizenship roles.IMG 20240503 WA0090

The interview delved extensively on the achievements of the administration, citizens obligation in owning and protecting projects provided by government to improve their lives.

The interview would soon be published and distributed to carry everyone on board in line with the transparency and open door policy of this administration.

On 1st May, 2024, Gov. Buni flagged-off the distribution of federal government Strategic Grains Reserve Palliative programme.FB IMG 1714838271949

He commended the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for complementing the state government’s efforts with 21,000 bags of assorted grains made up of Maize, Millet and Sorghum for distribution to 126,000 individuals across the state.

One month ago, the governor launched distribution of 50,000 bags of assorted grains targeting 120,000 vulnerable households across the 17 local government areas.FB IMG 1714838261185

“Our government had before then provided several interventions with a fair and transparent distribution exercise to eligible beneficiaries.

“The citizens’ welfare no doubt occupies a primary position on the priority list of this administration, and this explains the continuous interventions by the state government to ensure food is made available to the less privileged and vulnerable persons” Buni said.

He disclosed that his government would soon launch a massive agricultural intervention to support people participate actively in agricultural production for sustainable means of livelihood.FB IMG 1714838277849

“We are committed to making agriculture in Yobe state attractive, productive, and profitable, with assurance in food sufficiency, food security, and economic prosperity” he said.

On Thursday, 2nd May, 2024, the governor attended the funeral prayers for late Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Gadaka, a former Commissioner in the state.

Governor Buni was joined by hundreds of sympathisers at the Yobe Mosque and Islamic Center to pray for the late commissioner.FB IMG 1714644396206

Similarly, the Governor on Thursday, commissioned the new digital process on land administration and management at the Yobe Geographical Information Service (YOGIS).

He said “in our efforts to achieve excellence in land administration and management, using the global best practice mechanisms of the digital World, this administration established the Yobe State Geographic Information Service in the year 2020.

“With YOGIS in place, our policy of transforming land administration and management in the state would continue to be in tune with the changing times, providing effective and efficient services.IMG 20240429 WA0005

In the same vein, government is expecting more revenue generation through titling, lease, consent, mortgages, surveying, mapping, ground rent and perfection of titles” he said.

The governor also said he has approved contract for the production of a 25-year Damaturu master plan. “I am pleased to inform you that the team of experts engaged are ready to commence work adding that, this would be extended to other major urban areas across the state namely; Potiskum, Nguru, Gashu’a, Geidam and Buni-Yadi.FB IMG 1714375623825

“To reduce the menace of land grabbing, racketeering and scam, I hereby direct that all land vendors must be registered for proper records and security before they are allowed to ooerate” he warned.

On the same Thursday, Governor Buni met with Heads of Boards and Parastatals, Focal Persons and Coordinators.

The governor charged the heads to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to improve the lives of the people of the state.1713875354424

He explained that his administration provided opportunities to many young men and women to inject their energy and brains into service delivery.

“l expect you to be extraordinary and to think outside the box to achieve the set goals, you should do this now because, you are the future of the state.

“I am proud of the achievements recorded in the health sector and others, some of you went extra mile to ensure that our set goals are achieved, and this is what l expect from all of you.” he said.

The governor however charged the heads to avoid collision with the line ministries. “We are all doing the same thing, so there is no basis for collusion,” he advised.

The Secretary to the State Government Alh. Baba Malam-Wali said a workshop would soon be organised for all heads of boards and the focal persons to enhance efficiency.FB IMG 1713873931984

On Friday, 3rd May, Governor Bunin attended another funeral prayer for Late Alh. Bulama Nagabasko, a retired Permanent Secretary.

Governor Buni while condoling the families of late Ibrahim Ali Gadaka, the former commissioner, Bulama Nagabasko, retired Permanent Secretary, and Adamu Talba, a retired Director in the state civil service, described the death of the deceased persons as a loss to their families, communities, and the state.

“As faithfuls, we are, however, consoled with the fact that we are from our creator and unto Him we shall return,” the Governor said.

He prayed to Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them Aljannatu firdausi.

The governor also prayed to Allah to console their families and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones.1714645351086

Still, on Friday, 3rd May, 2024, Governor Buni CON assured security operatives in the state of more support to enhance their performance and improve on the security in the state.

He gave the assurance in his office while receiving an award presented by the Inspector General of Police to “Operation Haba Maza” security outfit, as the best Police patrol outfit in Nigeria, .

Governor Buni established Operation Haba Maza in 2019 as an emergency support to the conventional security agencies in the state.

He said the head of the outfit was carefully selected to ensure delivery. “I am never disappointed, Shehu has done us proud by living up to our expectations and winning this award.”FB IMG 1714771551269

Governor Buni commended security agencies in the state for synergy and teamwork, which has grossly reduced the rate of crime across the state.

The commissioner Yobe State Police Command commended the governor for establishing the Operation Haba Maza outfit.

“The outfit has been a strong pillar of fighting crime in Damaturu the state capital and its environs.

“Your Excellency, we would appreciate extension of ding the operation to other major towns in the state to help us curb crime,” he appealed.

The commissioner, however, requested additional vehicles to boost logistics for effective patrol.
