Youth group grounds activities of YEDC over poor services in Adamawa

The activities of the Yola Electricity Distribution Company,YEDC has been forcefully grounded by members of the Movement for the transformation of Nigeria (Motion) over epileptic electricity supply in Adamawa state.
Daily Hint reporter storms the premises of Yola Disco on Monday as early as seven o’clock in the morning, members of the group in large numbers blocked all entrances of the building holding placards with different inscriptions protesting the alleged poor power supply to residences in the state.
Speaking on the matter, State Contact Person of the group.Comrade Musa Andrew said that the movement came out in full force to register its grievance on the poor services being offered to the residents in the state.
Comrade Andrew decried that the group has made several efforts both in writing and other correspondences so that, the YEDC management can change the situation for good as majority of residents in the state are not getting enough electricity supply in their homes and business premises.
“We wrote YEDC and complained about the poor services on the 27th November and we copied the police, DSS, Public Complain Commission, and National Electricity Regulations Commission but no response up to date.
“We have made a lot of engagements with many residents in Jambutu,Numan, Demsa, Yola South and Yola North local government areas where the story of lack of electricity supply is the same.
“Like my own case, where l live, we are on band B’ category which is suppose to have eight to twelve hours (8-12) daily but unfortunately we receive two (2) hours per daily in ratio of thirty (30) minutes basis.
“There is no light in Adamawa though some places on band A’ are getting three days interrupted power supply.
“And all we are saying that if the YEDC is incompetent then the Federal government should revoke their license immediately”. Comrade Andrew demanded.
In their separate remarks, Some residents including Ladi Demsa and Doris Elem called on the distribution company to improve their services in the interest of fairness and justice noting that the poor services has affected their businesses immensely.
Efforts to get the response of the YEDC were not fruitful as calls put across the company’s communication officer,Mrs Blessing Tunoh were neither picked nor return as of the time of filling in this report.
