Zulum appeals to FG to reverse it’s decision of merging NUAB with NDA

By Madu Mohammed, Maiduguri.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has urged President Bola Tinubu and the federal government to reverse it’s decision of  merging  Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) and the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), Kaduna

Addressing journalists in an interview on Thursday in Maiduguri, Governor Babagana Zulum said ” I am appealing to the President to look into this issue so that the university in Biu will remain a university. In the alternative, the Federal Ministry of education to take over the University to became a conventional university”

It could be recalled that the Orosanye’s reports 2012 recommended for the scrap or merger of some Ministries, commissions and agencies.

“Borno State has been facing serious crisis for the past 15 years and as a result of this, many of our children couldn’t have access to education. Therefore, this university is very important to the people of Borno State and neighbouring states”,he added.

Zulum said ” they should allow the university to continue because of importance of education in this part of the country where Boko Haram is saying ediucation is forbidden.. By allowing the scrap of the university,”.. Education in the northeast and this part of Borno State doesn’t have a university aside this. The number of  student attending the University is high”.

He said ” also want to appeal to the FG on the National Centre for Agriculture Mechanisation, the centre should not be merge at the time we need to invest in mechanised farming.. I was there on visit few months ago and saw a lot of agricultural machineries they are fabricating. I think this is very important at this time”

He said he believes that the Federal Government will set up technical committee to listen to the complains before implimentation.
