Zulum hands over power to his Deputy, Hon. Umar Kadafur, in an Acting capacity

Governor, Babagana Zulum of Borno state has handed over power to his Deputy, Alhaji Umar Kadafur on an Acting capacity, as left for Hajj in the Holyland of Saudi Arabia.
Governor Zulum in an Executive communication to the Borno state House of Assembly (BOHA) and read by the Speaker, Honourable Abdulkarim Lawan during an emergency session on Friday, wrote to inform the House about the transmission of power to the Deputy Alhaji Umar Kadafur and sought for their confirmation .
The speaker, Honourable Lawan said that this is accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, adding that Kadafur will act from 10th June to 8th July, 2024.
Borno State House of Assembly has received an Executive Communication informing the Members of handing over the affairs of activities of the office of the Executive Governor of Borno State to the Deputy Governor, Lawan stated.
The Speaker further explained that the move is necessary to ensure the continuity of governance and smooth running of the affairs of the state in the absence of the Governor.
The Governor commended the cordial working relationship and understanding between the Executive and the Legislative arm.
It could be recalled that Governor Zulum had during his first tenure transmitted similar power to his Deputy Alhaji Umar Kadafur during which he performed the annual Hajj exercise.
Similarly, the House leader, Honourable Dige Muhammad of Kala Balge state constituency moved a motion for the legislatures to proceed on a recess and return on 9th of July 2024, which was seconded by Honourable Yakubu Kimba of Biu State Constituency.
